PushMeAhead (“PushMeAhead”, “we”, “us”) builds a student's resume and then applies with it — finding internships, writing the pitch, and sending it from the student's own inbox. This page explains what information that takes, why, and what you can do about it.

1. Information we collect

Account and profile information

Name, email address, phone number, city, education history, work experience, skills, target roles and other preferences, your uploaded resume file, and a profile picture if you add one — everything you enter to build your resume and tell auto apply what to look for.

Your Gmail app password, if you connect a mailbox

Connecting a mailbox is optional and is covered in full in Section 2 below, since it is the most sensitive thing this policy has to explain.

Payment information

Plans are paid for through Razorpay, our payment processor. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and basic billing metadata (plan, amount, date, a reference id) — we never see or store your full card, UPI, or bank account details. Razorpay processes those directly under its own privacy policy.

Institution information

If you were added to PushMeAhead by a college, your institution's administrators can see whether you have access and your billing status, so they know who to follow up with. They do not see your resume, your profile details, or your outreach conversations.

Usage and log data

Standard technical data — IP address, browser, device type, pages visited, timestamps — collected automatically to keep the service secure and working.

2. Connecting Gmail: exactly what we access, and why

Auto apply sends applications only from your own address — never through ours — because a recruiter reading an email that actually comes from you reads it as an application from a person. Without a connected Gmail, auto apply sends nothing on your behalf.

If you choose to connect, you give us your Gmail address and a Gmail app password — a separate 16-character password Google generates for a single app, not your normal account password. We use it for exactly two things:

  • Sending — each application and follow-up is sent from your address, so it lands in a recruiter's inbox from you.
  • Checking for replies — we look at new mail arriving in your inbox only to match it against the applications we sent, so we can tell you a recruiter replied and stop a follow-up going out to someone who already answered. Mail that is not a reply to one of our applications is ignored and never stored. We never delete, move, label, or archive anything.

What we do with what we read is narrow and specific: the subject, snippet, and body of a recruiter's reply to an application we sent are shown back to you, in your own conversation view, so you can see what they said without leaving the portal. Nothing else in your mailbox is touched, read, or stored.

What we never do with it: we do not sell it, share it for advertising, or hand it to anyone for their own marketing. We do not use it to develop, improve, or train generalised or non-personalised AI or machine-learning models. No one at PushMeAhead reads it by hand except where strictly necessary to investigate abuse, comply with the law, or help you with a support request you raised yourself.

Your app password is encrypted at rest and is never shown back to anyone, including you. Disconnecting your mailbox from Auto apply settings deletes our copy immediately; anything already sent stays sent, but nothing further is read or sent on your behalf until you reconnect. You can also revoke the app password yourself from your Google account at any time, which cuts off our access whether or not you disconnect here.

3. How we use your information

To do the job you signed up for: build and generate your resume, match you against internship postings, write outreach on your behalf, send and track it, show you progress, process payments, run onboarding for institutions, respond to support requests, and keep the service secure, debugged, and working. Internship listings themselves are sourced from public postings and job boards, not from anyone's personal data.

4. Who we share information with

  • Recruiters — the outreach email you approve is, by design, sent to a recruiter. That is the point of the product.
  • Your institution (if applicable) — access and billing status only, as described above.
  • Service providers — infrastructure, hosting, email delivery, and Razorpay for payments, each bound to use your data only to provide that service to us.
  • Legal reasons — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of PushMeAhead, our users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active, and outreach conversation data for as long as it is useful to show you your own application history. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep records for legal, security, or accounting reasons.

6. Your rights and choices

  • Access, correct, or export the profile data you have given us, from your dashboard.
  • Disconnect your Gmail account at any time.
  • Ask us to delete your account and associated data by writing to us at the address below.
  • Revoke PushMeAhead's access directly by deleting its app password on your Google app passwords page, independently of anything you do here.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypting mailbox app passwords at rest and encrypting data in transit — to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

PushMeAhead is built for students old enough to apply for internships and is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you directly. Continuing to use PushMeAhead after a change means you accept the updated policy.
